Aprilaire 201 vs 213 vs 413: Which Filter Fits Your 2200, 2210, 2400 or 2410?
Quick answer
Go by your cabinet's model number. Aprilaire says the 213 fits 20 x 25 cabinets such as the 2210, the 413 fits 16 x 25 cabinets such as the 2410, the 2200 and 2250 take the 201, and the 2400 takes the 401. [S1] [S2] [S3] [S4]
- The 213 and 413 are not interchangeable. Aprilaire lists the 213 at nominal 20 x 25 x 4 and the 413 at nominal 16 x 25 x 4. [S2] [S3]

The model number is on the cabinet, the boxed housing on the return duct beside your furnace. Once you have it, find it in the first table above. The filter you take out should carry the same number Aprilaire lists for that cabinet. [S1] [S2] [S3] [S4]
Don't go by "20x25x4" alone
The 210 and 213 are sold as 20 x 25 x 4, but Aprilaire lists their actual size as 20.6 × 26.63 × 4 inches. [S2] [S5] A standard pleated 20x25x4 is much smaller: Filterbuy's is 19.5 × 24.5 × 3.63. [S9] See 20x25x4 actual size by brand for the full comparison.

What we could not verify
- The upgrade kit name. Aprilaire's 213 and 413 pages call it the 1213 and 1413 upgrade kit, and its 201 and 401 pages call it the U1213 and U1413 upgrade kit. We show the 1213 and 1413 names and haven't checked whether they are the same product.
- Why Aprilaire's listed actual sizes are larger than the nominal size. Aprilaire's product pages don't say, so we haven't guessed.
- Whether a non-Aprilaire filter fits these cabinets. We found no Aprilaire document that approves one.
- The 216, 213CBN, 416 and 413CBN filters' sizes. We only list the filters whose pages we checked.
