Samsung RF28HMEDBSR water filter: HAF-CIN (DA29-00020B)
Quick answer
The RF28HMEDBSR takes Samsung's HAF-CIN/EXP filter, also sold as DA29-00020B. Samsung Canada lists the RF28HMEDBSR as a model it fits. [S1]
- Samsung Canada lists RF28HMEDBSR/AA.

When to change it
The Filter icon turns red after six months (about 300 gallons). [S2] The manual says areas with a lot of lime in the water may need changes more often. [S2]
How to change it on the RF28HMEDBSR
- Shut off the water supply, then turn the filter about a quarter turn counter-clockwise. [S2]
- Pull the filter out. A little water can leak out; the manual says this is normal and suggests keeping the cartridge level as you pull it, then emptying the water filter tray. [S2]
- Push the new filter into the case and turn it clockwise until it locks. The lock symbol should line up with the indicator line. [S2]
- Reset the filter light: touch and hold "Alarm / hold 3 sec for Filter Reset" for about 3 seconds. The red light turns off. [S2]
- Turn the water back on and flush: run water through the dispenser until it runs clear, about 6 to 7 minutes. [S2] Then check inside the fridge for leaks around the filter. [S2]
Samsung's warning: This model's manual says to use only Samsung brand water filters and that Samsung isn't responsible for leak damage from a generic filter. [S2]

What we could not verify
- Exactly where the filter sits in this fridge. The manual shows it only in a diagram, so we haven't described it in words.
- Samsung's NSF claims for HAF-CIN in NSF's own database. See the HAF-CIN guide for what we checked.
