Everydrop Filter 3 (EDR3RXD1) vs Filter A (EDRARXD1): Which One Do You Need?

Last checked 2026-10-27 NSF database check: pending 5 sources

Quick answer

They're different filters. everydrop sells Filter 3 as aqua EDR3RXD1 and Filter A as blue EDRARXD1. [S1] [S2] Whirlpool's store lists both as separate Filter 3 and Filter A options. [S5] Buy the number or color on the filter you're taking out.

  • Filter 3's data sheet lists EDR3RXD1, EDR3RXD1B and KAD3RXD1 as replacement filters. [S3] Whirlpool also sells Filter 3 as WHR3RXD1. [S5]
  • Filter A's data sheet lists EDRARXD1, EDRARXD1B, WHRARXD1, KADARXD1, MAYARXD1 and a few internal part numbers as replacements for the same system. [S4]
  • Both sheets rate capacity at 200 gallons with PID and 100 gallons without, and say to change the cartridge at least every 6 months. [S3] [S4]
  • Waterdrop doesn't list a Filter 3 or Filter A replacement on its US store (checked 2026-10-27).

How to tell them apart

  1. Read the old filter. Look for EDR3RXD1 / Filter 3 / aqua, or EDRARXD1 / Filter A / blue. [S1] [S2]
  2. Don't swap by capacity alone. Both sheets use the same 200 / 100 gallon capacity line, so capacity won't tell them apart. [S3] [S4]
  3. Check the other everydrop colors if yours isn't aqua or blue. Filter 1 is purple, Filter 2 is orange, Filter 4 is green. [S5] See Filter 1, Filter 2 vs Filter 1 and Filter 4.

After you change it

Both data sheets say to flush the water system after changing the filter, and to follow the owner's manual for the exact steps. [S3] [S4]

What we could not verify

  • Whether Filter 3 and Filter A fit the same fridges. Whirlpool and everydrop treat them as separate filters, so we don't claim they're interchangeable.
  • What "PID" means on the capacity line. Neither data sheet defines it.
  • A fridge model list. everydrop's filter finder didn't return a list we could cite, so no models are added yet.
  • NSF database confirmation for EDR3RXD1 or EDRARXD1.
  • Install location and step-by-step photos for each filter. The data sheets point to the owner's manual for install and flush steps.
